GHK-Cu is the one research peptide you can partly assess by looking at it. It is a copper complex, and copper peptides are blue. A vial of GHK-Cu that arrives as a white powder is not GHK-Cu — the colour is not cosmetic, it is the copper doing what copper does.

What GHK-Cu actually is
GHK is a tripeptide — glycine, histidine, lysine — that occurs naturally in human plasma and declines with age. On its own it is a white powder like most peptides. What makes GHK-Cu distinct is that the tripeptide is complexed with a copper(II) ion, and that complex is what the research literature is interested in. It is studied around skin, hair and tissue-related pathways.
The blue is the giveaway. A deep blue lyophilised cake means copper is present and complexed. Pale, patchy or white material means something is wrong with the batch, the complex, or the label.
Buying it in Canada
GHK-Cu is not approved for human use in Canada. It is supplied as a research material for laboratory use, which leaves the same two routes as any other research peptide.
From a US or overseas vendor. The parcel crosses the border, where unapproved compounds are exactly the category the CBSA may hold or seize. Community reports through 2026 describe seizures concentrated at west-coast entry points. A seized vial is not replaced.
From a supplier already inside Canada. No border, no customs exposure — an ordinary domestic parcel. This is the main reason Canadian research buyers now favour domestic supply.
What to check before ordering
- Colour, stated openly. A supplier who photographs their actual blue vial is showing you the product. Stock imagery of a generic white powder is not.
- Vial size in milligrams. GHK-Cu is commonly sold in larger vials than most peptides — 50 mg and 100 mg are typical. “One vial” is not a specification.
- Verifiable domestic dispatch. Canadian tracking from a Canadian origin.
- Research-use framing. GHK-Cu attracts more cosmetic marketing than almost any other peptide. A supplier making skin-care claims about an unapproved compound is telling you something about their standards.
