CJC-1295 is a modified copy of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), the signal the hypothalamus sends to tell the pituitary to release growth hormone. Ipamorelin works through a different receptor, the ghrelin receptor, and was developed as a selective growth-hormone secretagogue. One peptide pulls the GHRH lever and the other the ghrelin lever, which is why researchers so often study the two side by side.
What has human research on CJC-1295 and ipamorelin found?
- Ipamorelin, 1999. In a pharmacokinetic study, ipamorelin was infused at five escalating rates, with 8 male volunteers at each rate. It released growth hormone at every level tested, as a single pulse that peaked about 40 minutes (0.67 hours) after the start and then declined, and its kinetics were proportional across levels, with a short half-life of about 2 hours.
- CJC-1295, 2006. Two randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials in adults aged 21 to 61 found that a single administration under the skin raised mean growth hormone 2- to 10-fold for 6 days or more and IGF-1 1.5- to 3-fold for 9 to 11 days, with no serious adverse reactions reported. Those trials used the long-acting DAC form, not the no-DAC CJC-1295 in this spray.
