Buy Semax in Canada: A Researcher’s Guide

Semax is one of the most studied nootropic research peptides, and in Canada it is available in two formats that researchers choose between. Originally developed in Russia, where it is a registered pharmaceutical, Semax is studied for its interaction with BDNF and the melanocortin system. The practical questions for a Canadian researcher are what the compound is, which format suits the work, how to handle it, and how it is supplied in Canada. This guide takes them in turn.

At a glance: Vistara Labs stocks Semax in 10 mg vials and as a ready-mixed nasal spray, independently tested, with a certificate of analysis on our Lab Reports page, shipped from within Canada by Canada Post Xpresspost, with same-business-day dispatch on orders before 3 pm Pacific. We deliver to every province, including Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta.

What Semax is

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. The first four residues come from the ACTH 4-10 region of adrenocorticotropic hormone, and the Pro-Gly-Pro tail was added to slow enzymatic breakdown, the main weakness of short natural fragments. It keeps none of the adrenal-stimulating activity of full-length ACTH; the research interest is in its effect on neurotrophic signalling. Semax was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and has been used clinically in Russia for decades as nasal drops.

What the research covers

Most published Semax work comes from Russian groups and centres on stroke and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). The clearest human data point is a 2018 study of 110 patients after ischaemic stroke: the groups given Semax alongside standard rehabilitation showed higher plasma BDNF and faster motor recovery than the groups on rehabilitation alone. Animal and cell studies add work on BDNF expression and on melanocortin signalling. The evidence is real but regionally concentrated, and large international trials have not been published. We walk through the stroke study in Semax and stroke recovery: the BDNF research, and the wider background is in our Semax research note.

Two formats: vial and nasal spray

Vistara Labs stocks Semax two ways. The Semax 10 mg vial (lyophilised powder) is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water for research handling. The Semax nasal spray ships pre-mixed in a metered atomiser, the route most of the published Semax research uses. Both are third-party tested with the purity figure on the product page, and both are also sold in packs of ten for longer research series.

The choice follows the protocol. The spray matches the intranasal route of the Russian literature and needs no preparation. The vial gives more control over concentration, because the researcher sets the water volume, and suits protocols that are not intranasal. The trade-offs are covered in nasal spray vs injection.

Handling and storage

Keep unopened vials cold and dark until they are needed. A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5 mg/mL; with 1 mL it gives 10 mg/mL. The volumes and syringe readings are set out in how much bacteriostatic water for a Semax 10 mg vial, and the peptide calculator works out any other combination. Once reconstituted, label the vial with the date and concentration and store it refrigerated at 2 to 8 °C, away from light. The nasal spray arrives ready to use; follow the storage directions on its label.

How Semax is supplied

  • Published certificates of analysis. Certificates of analysis from independent laboratories are published for each compound, each with a chromatographic purity figure, and the Semax certificate reports purity above 99 percent. All of them sit on the Lab Results page.
  • Clear labelling that states the compound and the peptide mass, so each vial is easy to identify and record in a research log.
  • The right format for the protocol. A pre-mixed spray and a lyophilised vial are not interchangeable.
  • Research-use framing. Vistara Labs sells Semax for laboratory research only and makes no medical claims for it.

Buying Semax in Canada

Semax is not a controlled substance in Canada, and it is not an approved medicine here either: it is sold as a laboratory research material. Both Vistara formats, the lyophilised vial and the pre-mixed spray, are held in stock here, and every order ships from within Canada, so there is no customs step (see peptides, customs and domestic shipping). The legal position is explained in are peptides legal in Canada?, and questions about either format can go to our team through the contact page.

Semax vs Selank

Semax and Selank are frequently studied together but act differently. We compare them directly in Semax vs Selank. The wider cognitive set lives on the Cognitive & Nootropic Research page.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy Semax in Canada?

From domestic research suppliers. Vistara Labs stocks Semax as a vial and as a pre-mixed nasal spray, both shipped from within Canada, with certificates of analysis published on the lab reports page.

Is the Semax nasal spray pre-mixed?

Yes. It ships ready to use in a metered atomiser, supplied in saline for intranasal research handling.

What concentration does a Semax 10 mg vial give?

That depends on the water added: 5 mg/mL with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, or 10 mg/mL with 1 mL. The mass of peptide in the vial stays the same; only the concentration changes.

How should Semax be stored?

Unopened vials are kept cold and dark. A reconstituted vial is stored refrigerated at 2 to 8 °C, protected from light, and labelled with the date and concentration.

Is Semax legal in Canada?

It is sold for laboratory research use only, the same framing as other research peptides. It is not sold for human use, and nothing here is medical advice.

All products discussed are for laboratory research use only and are not for human use. Nothing on this page is medical advice, and no statement about any compound is a claim of therapeutic benefit.
