What is Selank?
Selank is a seven-amino-acid synthetic peptide built on tuftsin, a short fragment of an antibody molecule studied in immune signalling, with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail added for stability. It came from the same Russian research institute as Semax and uses the same stabilising design on a different parent peptide. Its research centres on the GABA system, the slowing of enkephalin breakdown and anxiety, with a smaller strand on immune signalling.

- Anxiety, 2008. In 62 patients with generalised anxiety disorder and neurasthenia, Selank (30 patients) matched the anti-anxiety effect of the benzodiazepine medazepam (32 patients) and also showed anti-fatigue and stimulating effects. - Alongside a tranquilliser, 2015. In 70 patients with anxiety disorders, adding Selank to phenazepam brought the anti-anxiety effect on earlier and reduced the tranquilliser’s side effects, including attention and memory impairment and sedation, both during the course and after withdrawal, with better quality-of-life scores.
- Immune markers, 2008. In patients with generalised anxiety disorder and neurasthenia, 14 days of Selank shifted the Th1/Th2 cytokine balance in serum.
