Injury Recovery Research

You can buy Cartalax in Canada from Vistara Labs as a 20 mg lyophilised vial, shipped from within Canada by Canada Post Xpresspost. Cartalax is the tripeptide Ala-Glu-Asp (AED), a short-peptide bioregulator from Vladimir Khavinson’s programme in Saint Petersburg, identified as a component of a polypeptide complex from bovine cartilage. Its research covers cartilage cells, stem cells turning into cartilage, bone density and ageing skin cells. This guide covers the Cartalax 20 mg vial, what the research found and how ordering works.

Findings

  • Cartilage cells, 2023: at 200 ng/mL, AED raised chondrocyte numbers 1.4-1.8-fold in cultures from young rats and 1.6-2.1-fold in cultures from old rats (Vrach).
  • Cartilage genes, 2023: in ageing human mesenchymal stem cells, AED activated SOX9, aggrecan, type II collagen and COMP, the core genes and proteins of cartilage formation (Advances in Gerontology).
  • Ageing chondrocytes, 2023: AED normalised the ageing profile of chondrocytes, in which p16, p21, p53, TNF-α and IL-1α rise and Sirt1 falls (Advances in Gerontology).
  • Bone, 2007: in an ovariectomy model of osteoporosis, AED (coded T-31) prevented the loss of bone mineral density and raised density that had already fallen (Advances in Gerontology).
  • Skin cells, 2020: in ageing human skin fibroblasts, AED increased sirtuin-1, sirtuin-6 and type I collagen (Bull Exp Biol Med).

What is Cartalax?

Cartalax is a synthetic tripeptide of alanine, glutamic acid and aspartic acid. Khavinson’s group studies short peptides it calls bioregulators, built on the active parts of polypeptide extracts from animal tissues, and AED is the programme’s cartilage peptide. Researchers at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology describe it as a constituent of a polypeptide complex isolated from bovine cartilage (Myakisheva et al., Vrach, 2023), and a 2023 review names the AED tripeptide as Kartalax (Myakisheva et al., Advances in Gerontology, 2023).

Its three amino acids are the first three of Epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly), the programme’s best-known tetrapeptide. Its origin, mechanism and wider research are set out in What Is Cartalax?

What has Cartalax research shown?

Cartilage

  • Chondrocyte growth, 2023. Chondrocytes are the cells that build and maintain cartilage. In primary cultures from 3-month-old and 20-month-old rats, AED was tested at 20, 200 and 2000 ng/mL. At 200 ng/mL it increased chondrocyte numbers 1.4-1.8-fold in young cultures and 1.6-2.1-fold in old ones, and the authors noted it worked better on cells from old animals (Myakisheva et al., Vrach, 2023).
  • Stem cells to cartilage, 2023. Mesenchymal stem cells can become cartilage, bone or fat cells. In human mesenchymal stem cells during replicative ageing, AED at 200 ng/mL activated the genes and protein synthesis of SOX9 (a key regulator of cartilage formation), aggrecan, type II collagen and COMP (cartilage oligomeric matrix protein). The bovine cartilage complex needed ten times that concentration for the same effect (Myakisheva et al., Advances in Gerontology, 2023).
  • Ageing chondrocytes, 2023. Ageing cells can take on a secretory profile that drives inflammation. In chondrocytes this profile showed more of the cell-cycle brakes p16, p21 and p53 and the cytokines TNF-α and IL-1α, with less Sirt1. AED and the cartilage complex normalised these molecules (Myakisheva et al., Advances in Gerontology, 2023).

Bone

In ovariectomised rats, a standard model of post-menopausal osteoporosis, the substance T-31 prevented the fall in bone mineral density and raised density that had already dropped, as did a cartilage-extract preparation (Povoroznyuk et al., Advances in Gerontology, 2007). T-31 is the group’s code for AED (Chalisova et al., Bull Exp Biol Med, 2015).

Skin and other tissues

In human skin fibroblasts during replicative ageing, AED activated synthesis of sirtuin-1, sirtuin-6 and type I collagen (Fridman et al., Bull Exp Biol Med, 2020). In skin fibroblasts ageing in culture it lowered MMP-9, an enzyme that breaks down the extracellular matrix, raised the proliferation marker Ki-67 and suppressed caspase-dependent apoptosis (Lin’kova et al., Bull Exp Biol Med, 2016).

A 2023 review from the institute also describes AED in animal osteoarthritis models and oral use in older patients with osteoarthritis (Myakisheva et al., Advances in Gerontology, 2023); those primary reports are in Russian and not indexed in PubMed. The published work we could review is laboratory research. Our injury recovery research notes cover the wider field.

Reconstituting the 20 mg vial

The mixing table for the Cartalax vial is in Cartalax reconstitution: how much bacteriostatic water, the method is in how to reconstitute peptides, and the peptide calculator works out any other volume. Storage is covered in how to store research peptides.

Which compounds are studied alongside Cartalax?

Within the Khavinson programme, Epitalon shares Cartalax’s Ala-Glu-Asp start (What Is Epitalon?), and Pinealon is the programme’s brain tripeptide (Buy Pinealon in Canada). In connective-tissue research, BPC-157 and TB-500 are studied in tendon, ligament and wound repair, and GHK-Cu is a copper tripeptide studied in collagen and skin research. Our overview of peptides for injury recovery compares the main pathways.
