PT-141 10mg research vial

Buy PT-141 (Bremelanotide) in Canada

PT-141 grew out of Melanotan II research and then went its own way. We stock PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, in sealed lyophilised vials. This guide covers what the peptide is, what the research looks at, and how to buy PT-141 Canada-wide.

What PT-141 is

PT-141 is the development code for bremelanotide, a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide: seven amino acids, with a ring built into the chain. It is an analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), which belongs to the melanocortins, a family of signalling peptides that act on five receptors, MC1 to MC5.

PT-141 is a melanocortin-receptor agonist with high affinity for the melanocortin 4 (MC4) receptor, and it also acts at the MC3 receptor. Both receptors sit mainly in the central nervous system, which is where the research on PT-141 is centred.

It is also a metabolite of Melanotan II, though unlike its parent it is not studied as a pigmentation compound. What interests researchers is its action on central receptors rather than on blood flow. You will see it written PT-141, PT141 and PT 141, and in clinical papers as bremelanotide; all four refer to the same peptide.

What the research covers

Published work on PT-141 sits within melanocortin research, much of it at the level of receptors and brain pathways, and falls into four broad areas.

  • Melanocortin-receptor signalling. How PT-141 binds and activates the melanocortin receptors, the MC4 receptor in particular.
  • Central nervous system pathways. The brain pathways studied in sexual-response research, which is where most of the PT-141 literature sits.
  • Neuroendocrine research. The melanocortin system links brain signalling to hormonal regulation, so PT-141 also appears in wider neuroendocrine work.
  • Comparative work. Studies that set PT-141 beside Melanotan II, alpha-MSH and other melanocortin analogues, receptor by receptor.

The same molecule was developed clinically under the name bremelanotide and approved as a prescription medicine in the United States in 2019 (Dhillon and Keam, Drugs, 2019, PMID 31429064). The PT-141 we supply is a research material, sold for laboratory use.

PT-141 and Melanotan II

The two peptides are close relatives that answer different research questions. How one led to the other is a story in its own right, told in Melanotan II: the clinical history and the PT-141 connection. Side by side, the practical differences come down to three things.

  • Structure. Both are built from the same seven amino acids; PT-141 ends in a free acid where Melanotan II ends in an amide.
  • Research focus. Melanotan II is best known for pigmentation research through the MC1 receptor in the skin, while PT-141 is studied for central melanocortin pathways.
  • Format. We supply Melanotan II as a vial and as a pre-mixed nasal spray, and PT-141 as a lyophilised vial and as a pre-mixed PT-141 nasal spray; each comes singly or in packs of ten.

Oxytocin is the other peptide in the same research category on our site. It is a nine-amino-acid hormone with a large research literature of its own, and our oxytocin nasal spray research article walks through the nasal work. We supply oxytocin both as a lyophilised vial and as a pre-mixed nasal spray.

Where to buy PT-141 Canada-wide

We are a Canadian peptide supplier, and ordering PT-141 works like every other vial on the site.

  • A single vial or a pack of ten. PT-141 comes as a single lyophilised vial or as a pack of ten for a longer series of experiments, both on the same product page.
  • Freeze-dried and sealed. The lyophilised (freeze-dried) form keeps a peptide stable through storage and shipping, and an unopened vial keeps best cold, dry and away from light.
  • Bacteriostatic water on the same order. We also stock the bacteriostatic water PT-141 is reconstituted with, so the two can go in one order.
  • Lab reports. Certificates of analysis from independent laboratories are published for each compound on our lab reports page, with purity above 99 percent.
  • Tracked, discreet delivery. Orders travel to every province by tracked Canada Post, in discreet packaging.
  • Questions are welcome. A real person on our team answers email at [email protected], whether the question is about PT-141 or an order.

Vistara Labs stocks PT-141 as a lyophilised powder, shipped from within Canada to every province.

Frequently asked questions

Is PT-141 the same as bremelanotide?

Yes. PT-141 is the development code and bremelanotide the generic name of the same peptide, and research papers often use the two side by side.

How is PT-141 different from Melanotan II?

PT-141 is a metabolite of Melanotan II, and structurally the two differ only at one end of the chain. PT-141 is studied for central melanocortin pathways, while Melanotan II is best known for pigmentation research.

How is PT-141 supplied?

As a lyophilised powder in a sealed vial, reconstituted with bacteriostatic water for laboratory handling, or as a ready-mixed PT-141 nasal spray that needs no reconstitution. Our PT-141 reconstitution guide has the details.

Can you buy PT-141 in Canada?

Yes, as a research material from Canadian peptide suppliers, including Vistara Labs. Every order ships from within Canada, so there is no customs step.
